Christmas events

The combined choirs of Macedonia Baptist Church of Gaffney and Pelham Road Baptist Church of Greenville will present the Christmas musical, "Noel," on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, 216 Macedonia Road. For more information, call 489-7712.

Bethany Baptist and Rehoboth Baptist churches will join their choirs to present "The Love of God at Christmas" by Dove awardwinners, Joel Lindsey, Sue C. Smith and Russell Mauldin. The musical will be presented at Rehoboth Baptist Church on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. Rehoboth is located at 110 Rehoboth Road.

Red Cross events

The Cherokee County American Red Cross will offering the following health and safety classes in December: Dec. 8-9, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., baby sitter's training, $40 fee includes babysitter first aid kit; Dec. 10, 6-8 p.m., bloodborne pathogens; Dec. 17-18, Blacksburg Community Center, 6-10 p.m., CPR and first aid. Pre-registration and prepayment is required. Classes are filled on a prepaid basis. All classes, unless noted, are at the ARC Service Center. To register, call 489-6066.

Church news

Kirby Memorial Baptist Church Mission Team will have a hot dog meal and auction at the church on Friday, Dec. 7, at 5:30 p.m. Auction items are cakes and theme baskets. Hot dog plates are two hot dogs with chili, chips, and drinks for $4. Children's plates with one hot dog, etc., are $3. One hot dog can be purchased for $1.

Northside Baptist Church, corner of Logan and Holland streets, will be showing a film at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, to remember Pearl Harbor. Everyone invited.

The New Emanuel Chapel Baptist Church of Kelton will host an HIV/AIDS testing and Clothes Give-away on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. James L. Mason is the pastor.

Meeting Blacksburg VFW Post 4941 and its Ladies Auxiliary will have their monthly meeting Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 6 p.m. A Christmas social will be at 6 p.m. followed by the meeting. All post and auxiliary members are urged to attend.
