Grophie C. Gilfillan BLACKSBURG - Grophie Mae Childers Gilfillan, 91, of 149 Gilfillan Road, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, in Cleveland Regional Medical Center. Born in York County, she was the widow of Samuel (Sam) Edward Gilfillan and daughter of the late John Childers and the late Mamie Ramsey Childers. She was a homemaker and member of Nazareth Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, Eddie Gilfillan and Kent Gilfillan, both of Blacksburg; three daughters, Betty Leagan, Brenda Moss, both of Blacksburg, and Yvonnie Gordon of Gaffney; a sister, Lela Wright of Gaffney; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Joe Dean Gilfillan, and a duaghter, Sybil Martin. Services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at Nazareth Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Joseph Clayton. Burial was in Clingman Memorial Gardens.
