WHAT'S UP Christmas events The combined choirs of Macedonia Baptist Church of Gaffney and Pelham Road Baptist Church of Greenville will present the Christmas musical, "Noel," on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, 216 Macedonia Road. For more information, call 489-7712. Bethany Baptist and Rehoboth Baptist churches will join their choirs to present "The Love of God at Christmas" by Dove awardwinners, Joel Lindsey, Sue C. Smith and Russell Mauldin. The musical will be presented at Rehoboth Baptist Church on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. Rehoboth is located at 110 Rehoboth Road. Meetings The Tuesday Woman's Club will meet Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Piedmont Club in Spartanburg. Hostesses are Mrs. Grady Randolph, Mrs. Gene Childers and Mrs. Steve Wood. Members are reminded to bring a wrapped Christmas ornament and bread for Meals on Wheels. The Cherokee County Branch of the NAACP will meet Monday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. at West Side Full Gospel Church. Cherokee County Republican Women will meet Monday, Dec. 10, at 11:45 a.m. at Limestone College. Larry Comereski, an accomplished accordion player, will present music of the Christmas season. As part of sharing the Christmas spirit, each member is asked to bring non-perishable food (canned goods, dried beans, flour, sugar, etc.) for Gaffney's Soup Kitchen. The Rev. Jesse Hunt, youth director at Buford Street United Methodist Church, will share information about the Soup Kitchen. Blacksburg VFW Post 4941 and its Ladies Auxiliary will have their monthly meeting Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 6 p.m. A Christmas social will be at 6 p.m. followed by the meeting. All post and auxiliary members are urged to attend. Church news Kirby Memorial Baptist Church Mission Team will have a hot dog meal and auction at the church today, Dec. 7, at 5:30 p.m. Auction items are cakes and theme baskets. Hot dog plates are two hot dogs with chili, chips, and drinks for $4. Children's plates with one hot dog, etc., are $3. One hot dog can be purchased for $1. Northside Baptist Church, corner of Logan and Holland streets, will be showing a film at 7 p.m. today, Dec. 7, to remember Pearl Harbor. The New Emanuel Chapel Baptist Church of Kelton will host an HIV/AIDS testing and Clothes Give-away on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. James L. Mason is the pastor. |
