Arthur Guyton

Arthur William Guyton, 65, affectionally referred to as "Coot," of 510 Thompson St., passed away Friday at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

A native of Cherokee County, Guyton was the son of the late Ned Dawkins and Will Guyton. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Guyton is survived by four sisters, Lula Fair, Gwendolyn Dawkins, Martha Watkins and Flora Dawkins, all of Gaffney; five brothers, Comm. Sgt. Maj. Rufus Dawkins of Afghanistan, and Robert Smith, Eddie Dawkins, Lee Wayne Dawkins and Everette Dawkins of Gaffney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Beddie Gregory; two foster sisters, Annie Sue Tate and Straucy Foster; and two foster brothers, Joe Dean Foster and Johnny Foster.

Funeral services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home with the Revs. Freddy Davidson and Brenda Dawkins officiating.

Interment will follow in Limestone Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Jake Jefferies, Houey Logan, Thomas Studyvance and Bobby Tate.

The family is at the home of his cousin, Maria Tate.
