WHAT'S UP Christmas events The Adult Choir of Park Hills Baptist Church, 1100 Leadmine Road, will present a Christmas cantata, "Bethlehem's Child," on Sunday, Dec. 16, at 11 a.m. Special narration will be by Mike Dobbins. Church news Lonnie Rice will deliver his initial sermon Sunday, Dec. 16, at 3 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, 250 Morning Drive, Spartanburg. The Rev. Dr. Michael A. Glenn, pastor, invites the public to attend. Eastside Baptist Church, 1284 E. Cherokee St., Blacksburg, will host its third Saturday night singing Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. Guests will be High Calling, King's Ambassadors and The Hamptons. The Worship Choir and Drama Team will present a special program Sunday at 6 p.m. at Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church. The choir is under the direction of Kim Tyler, interim minister of music, with Nanda Bedenbaugh leading the drama team. Special events The Blacksburg Public Library will be showing a film Thursday, Dec. 13, at 3:30 p.m. that is based on the book, "Polar Express," about a train conductor who picks up children at different stops and they finally make it to the North Pole.
