Roy F. Carpenter

Roy Franklin Carpenter, 71, of 104 Sycamore St., died Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, at 10:25 a.m. in Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.

A native of Cherokee County, he was the widower of Betty Norman Carpenter and son of the late James R. Carpenter and the late Dewey Ann Smith Carpenter. He was a member of Dunton United Methodist Church, a graduate of Granard High School, a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Overnite of Gaffney.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Watkins.

Surviving are two sons, Jermaine Smith and Lance Smith of New York, N.Y.; three daughters, Angela Watkins, Franda Watkins, both of Gaffney, and Gayla Nichols of Inman; a brother, Harold Clarence Carpenter of Gaffney; and two sisters, Carol L. Carpenter and Aubrey L. Scott of Gaffney.
