Bobby Spencer
Retired from Spartanburg Steel

PACOLET - Bobby D. Spencer, 68, of 1345 Asbury Road, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Lloyd Spencer and Jenelle Byars Spencer. Mr. Spencer was retired from Spartanburg Steel and was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church in Cowpens.

Surviving are two sons, Michael D. Spencer and wife, Lisa, of Gaffney and the Rev. Scott Spencer and wife, Lisa, of Pacolet; a daughter, Lisa D. Garrett and husband, Joey, of Roebuck; three brothers, the Rev. Dennis Spencer and wife, June, of Cowpens, Suvern Spencer of Cowpens and Mickey Spencer and wife, Kay, of Spartanburg; three sisters, Elizabeth Dye of Pacolet, Ozell McCarter and husband, Joe, of Boiling Springs and Marjean Chapman and husband, Marty, of Clifton; six grandchildren, Natalie Spencer, Sarah Spencer, Alyssa Smart and husband, Zachary, Haley Spencer, Nicholas Spencer and Brandon Garrett.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Spencer was preceded in death by four brothers, Melrose Spencer, Jackie Spencer, Johnny Spencer and Oneal Spencer; and a sister, Angela Smith.

The family will receive friends today from 1-2:30 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Cowpens. Services will be at the church at 2:30 p.m., immediately following the visitation, and will be conducted by the Revs. Dennis Spencer and Robert Ivey. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

The family is at the home of Dennis Spencer, 1710 S. Green River Road, Cowpens.
