Jim Masters Sr.
Retired from textile industry

James (Jim) Edward Masters Sr., 90, of 100 Huntington Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

Born in Greenville, he was the husband of Ruby Christopher Masters and son of the late Perry Dice Masters

and Mamie

Williams Masters.

Mr. Masters was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country in World War II. He was retired from the textile industry and was a member of Limestone Street United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Jack Daniel's Sunday School Class. He was also a member of American Legion Post 109 and was an avid gardener.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, James (Jim) Masters Jr. and wife, Diane, of Gaffney; a daughter, Kaye Masters of Chicago, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Chip Masters, Whitt Masters, Alan Masters Jr. and wife, Allison, Jason Masters, Chris Orr, Kassidy Orr, Daniel Orr and Kevin Ellis; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Masters was preceded in death by a son, Alan Masters, three brothers and four sisters.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 12- 1:45 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Limestone Street United Methodist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. at the church, immediately following the visitation, and will be conducted by the Rev. Ron Singleton. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Limestone Street United Methodist Church, 910 N. Limestone St., Gaffney, S.C., 29340; or to American Red Cross, 301 N. Limestone St., Gaffney, S.C. 29340.

The family will be at the residence.
