Iris Childers Jones Sarah Iris Childers Jones, 75, of 902 Ninth St., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center. Born in Blacksburg, she was the widow of George O'Neil Jones and daughter of the late Torrence Jefferson Childers and Blanch Parker Childers. She was retired from the South Carolina Employment Security Commission and was a member of Temple Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher, Training Union and nursery worker. She is survived by a son, Robert Jones of Gaffney; a daughter, Kim Bagwell and husband, Tim, of Gaffney; a brother, Glen Childers and wife, Joyce, of Blacksburg; four grandchildren, Holly B. Morris and husband, Brock, Tyler Bagwell, Morgan Bagwell and Jordan Bagwell; one great-grandchild, Lucas Carter Morris; and special caregiver, Christine Turner. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by three brothers, Basil Childers, Lester Childers and Grady Childers, and a sister, Ione Alexander. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. in Frederick Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Scott Kierstead and Dr. Wofford Caughman. The family will meet with friends at the graveside after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church, Music Department, 1508 Cherokee Ave., Gaffney, S.C. 29340.
