Christmas events

The Adult Choir of Park Hills Baptist Church, 1100 Leadmine Road, will present a Christmas cantata, "Bethlehem's Child," Dec. 16 at 11 a.m. Special narration will be by Mike Dobbins.

The youth and children's ministry, under the direction of Jonathan and Deanna Cooper, will present a musical/ drama about the Christmas story at 6 p.m. Dec. 16 in the fellowship hall at Park Hills Baptist Church.

"A Christmas Celebration" with the Southside Baptist Church Adult Choir and the church's children will be held Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. and Dec. 16 at 10:30 a.m. at Southside Baptist Church, 204 W. O'Neal St. A reception will follow the Saturday performance and child care is provided.

Notices

"Old Lady" Haney and her nephew, Frank Driver, will be handing out gifts to children Sunday, Dec. 23, from 4-6 p.m. in front of her old pawn shop located on 6th St. If you would like to contact with Haney, email her at thissideoftheroad@ mail.com.

Church news

The Youth Ministry of Island Creek Baptist Church, 2112 Battleground Road, will present a Christmas play and program Dec. 15 at 4 p.m. After the program, a drop-in will honor First Lady Ruby C. Sanders in the church fellowship hall. Speaker will be Angela Hollis.

Eastside Baptist Church, 1284 E. Cherokee St., Blacksburg, will host its third Saturday night singing Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. Guests will be High Calling, King's Ambassadors and The Hamptons.

The Worship Choir and Drama Team will present a special program Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. at Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church. The choir is under the direction of Kim Tyler, interim minister of music, with Nanda Bedenbaugh leading the drama team.
