Betty Jo Benton

Betty Jo Parker Benton, 73, of 415 Chatham Ave., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at her residence.

Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of Dexter Benton and daughter of the late Daniel Jackson Parker and Jessie Lee Pace Parker. Mrs. Benton was retired from the textile industry and was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by a daughter, Alice Faye Parker of Gaffney; four brothers, Jack W. Parker and wife, Shirley, Billy Jean Parker and wife, Brenda, Floyd Leonard Parker and wife, Miniver, and Luther Parker and wife, Brenda, all of Gaffney; a sister, Effie Mae Painter of Gaffney; two grandchildren, Marvin Wayne Parker and Betty Blackwood; and two great-grandchildren, Leslie Blackwood and Jerry Lane Blackwood.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Benton was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Eugene Parker.

Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Terry Pleasant. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.
