Michael James Martin

Michael James Martin, 41, of Grover, died Friday Dec. 14.

Born in York, Martin was the son of the late James Ray and the late Linda Gail Martin Gunner. He spent many years in the textile and spinning businesses and was of the Baptist faith.

Martin is survived by his stepmother, Thema Louise Martin of Gastonia; three brothers, Kenneth Ray Martin and Richard Eugene Martin, both of Blacksburg, and Douglas Edward Martin of Virginia; three stepsisters, Crystal Dianne Martin and Rhonda Stroupe of Blacksburg, and Rita Shipton of Cherryville.

The family received friends yesterday at Gordon Mortuary. A graveside service will be held today at 1 p.m. at Westview Gardens with the Rev. Dicky Whitener officiating.

Pall bearers for the service will be Daniel Martin, Charles Lancaster, Ernest Glenn and Steve Lynch.

The family will be at 117 David Peeler Trail in Blacksburg.
