United Way of the Piedmont adds Cherokee County board members

Three individuals from Cherokee County have been added to the board of directors for United Way of the Piedmont. They are Patrick J. Emrich, Carlisle Hamrick and Marcus Propst. Each will serve a three year term.
Emrich is Factory Manager of Nestlé USA Prepared Foods Company in Gaffney, which manufactures Stouffer's Red Box, Lean Cuisine and Nestlé Brands Frozen Food service products. Active in community affairs since 1985 when he moved to Gaffney, Emrich is currently serving on the board of directors for the Spartanburg Development Association and as a board member for Communities in Schools of Cherokee County. He served as past president of the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce and the Arts Council, as well as board member of the Private Industries Council Board of Directors, Solid Waste Advisory Council, Boys and Girls Club, Salvation Army Advisory Board and Cherokee County Youth Sports Complex Committee Chairman.
Marcus Propst is the general manager for The Timken Company's Gaffney Bearing Plant. An employee with The Timken company for 26 years in various operational positions, Propst is active in a number of local and statewide organizations, including Rotary International, Harbor of Hope Homeless Shelter, Cherokee County Friends of Scouting and S.C. Tort Reform Leadership Council. He served as president of the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce and board chair of Upstate Carolina Medical Center. He has been on the board of numerous organizations, including Spartanburg Development Association, Cherokee County Community Foundation, Spartanburg Tech College Advisory Board and Carolina Trust Bank.

Carlisle Hamrick is President of Hamrick Mills Inc., a fifth generation familyowned textile company. The company is a leading producer of high quality, lightweight greige woven fabrics for use in home furnishings, industrial, and apparel markets. He is currently involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Cherokee County Community Foundation and the S.C. Manufacturers Association.
