Willie Lee Jefferies
Cherokee County native

BOILING SPRING, N.C. - Willie Lee "Tank" Jefferies, 78, of 1619 Patrick Ave., died Wednes- day, Dec. 19, 2007, in Wendover Hospice at Shelby.

Husband of Nora Davis Jefferies of the home, he was born in Cherokee County, a son of the late Emmerson and Sarah Fernanders Jefferies. He was a member of Suck Creek Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Brotherhood. He was also a member of Victor Lodge No. 141 Free and Accepted Masons in Chesnee.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Doggett.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Nelson Davis and wife, Elizabeth, Willie James Jefferies, Julius Lee Jefferies and Calvin Maurice Jefferies, all of Gaffney; seven daughters, Nadine Dawkins and Lucy Littlejohn of Gaffney, Darlene Morgan and husband, Winfred, of Grover, N.C., Rosa Norris and Cynthia Houser of Forest City, N.C., Kathy Gregory and husband, Bobby, of Shelby and Jacqueline Degree of Boiling Springs, N.C.; a brother, J.L. "Marcie" Jefferies and wife, Jean, of Gaffney; 40 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Suck Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Macomson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church Saturday at 1 p.m.

The family is at the home of Nadine Dawkins, 236 N. Green River Road.
