Clerk critical, Evans serious Two local people injured in separate incidents recently were still hospitalized Sunday evening without any upgrades to their medical conditions. Cheryl Green, 31, whose last name is spelled in police reports as Greene, remains in critical condition at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, according to a nursing supervisor. A mother of three young children from Grover, N.C., Green sustained a serious head injury when she was thrown from the hood of a car while trying to stop two alleged shoplifted from leaving the Wilco Travel Plaza in Blacksburg on Christmas Day. A second person injured recently, Roy Anthony Evans, 20, of Gaffney, who was ejected from a vehicle during a violent crash on Interstate 85 on Dec. 21, remains in serious condition at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
Evans and his younger brother, 18-year-old Raymond Alexander (Alex) Evans, were riding north on Interstate 85 when their car crossed the median and collided with a southbound car. A mother and daughter from Fort Mill, 44- year-old Paulette Toussant and 19-year-old Veronica Lynne Toussant, both were killed in the crash. The Toussants were headed to New Orleans for the holiday. |
