Hospital welcomes new nursing officer

Dixon previously served as Chief Nursing Officer for Elbert Memorial Hospital in Elberton, GA. He has also worked at the South Carolina Heart Center as the Clinical Research Coordinator and at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital on the Medical Intensive Care Unit. His education includes a bachelor's degree in nursing and another undergraduate degree in history, both from Lander University in Greenwood, SC.

He recently received a master's degree in business administration (MBA) from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.

Dixon, 40, and his family now reside in Duncan. He and his wife, Jennifer, have three children: Paul, 12, Cole, 6, and Julia Kate, 2. In his spare time, he enjoys spending it with his family, following University of Georgia football, and traveling. They attend Spartanburg Community Church.

"Upstate Carolina Medical Center is doing some exciting things in terms of patient care and in providing excellent hospital care for the citizens of Cherokee County. I have been extremely impressed with the nursing staff's professionalism and commitment to quality patient care and excellent customer service. I thought long and hard about making this career move, and I believe this hospital and I will complement each other well."
