Ina R. Blanton
Ina Rumfelt Blanton, 88, of Magnolias of Gaffney, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008.
Mrs. Blanton was born July 18, 1919, in Blacksburg and resided there until recent years. She was the daughter of Olice M. and Minerva Lee Rumfelt. She was preceded in death by her husband, G.W. Blanton, who was a former mayor of Blacksburg.
Mrs. Blanton was a graduate of the National School of Commerce in Charlotte and was employed for 30 years as bookkeeper at Blanton Lumber Company. In later years she was employed by Burton- Dixie Corp. and the Town of Blacksburg.
Surviving are a niece, Ann Rumfelt Scott of Boiling Springs; three nephews, Sam Rumfelt of Blacksburg, Buddy Rumfelt of Salem and Bill Rumfelt of Gaffney; and a number of great nieces and great nephew.
Mrs. Blanton was preceded in death by two brothers, James Lloyd Rumfelt and Rembert Marion Rumfelt, and a nephew, David M. Rumfelt.
Graveside services will be held today at 3 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Scott Hammett.
Family members are at their respective homes and will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.
