Cherokee County native

Julite Littlejohn Tate, 79, of 612 Gardner St., widow of Elford Tate Sr., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at 3:50 a.m. at her home.

A native of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Ben Littlejohn and the late Millie Littlejohn. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Tate was preceded in death by two children, James C. Tate and Louise M. Tate, and four sisters, Stella Tate, Justine Tate, Sophia Littlejohn and Rosa Lee Ellis.

Surviving are three sons, Sammy L. Tate, Elford Tate Jr. and Bobby L. Tate, all of Gaffney; four daughters, Margaret Douglas of the home, Mary Camp, Shirley Way and Annie Guyton; four sisters, Ida Mae Littlejohn, Era Corry, Nellie Humphries, all of Gaffney, and Minnie Pearl Richardson of Cleveland, Ohio; 50 grandchildren; 60 greatgrandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. A.L. Brackett. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7-8 p.m.
