BHS coaching search moves forward
School has received letters of interest from coaches around state
      Now that the opening for a new head football coach has been posted on-line, Blacksburg officials apparently won't have to wait long for the applications to arrive. Blacksburg High Principal Jim Touchberry said the school already has received several letters of interest from coaches around the state.

Indians drop OT thriller
      Dorman took Gaffney's best shot in the waning moments of regulation, shook it off, then came back to deliver the knockout in overtime. Coleman Young led four teammates in double figures with 21 points, including six 3s, as the visiting Cavaliers topped Gaffney, 75-67. It was Gaffney's third straight region defeat.

Wildcats' offensive woes continue in setback to Woodruff
      It was another game the Blacksburg Wildcats would like to forget. The Wildcats scored the game's first five points, but Woodruff took charge after that to post a 64-50 victory Tuesday. The Wildcats remain winless in the region at 0-8.

      Byrnes grapplers down Gaffney In high school wrestling on Monday, Byrnes beat Gaffney, 58-6. Cody Thompson and Sam Tedder posted the lone wins for the Indians. Gaffney jayvees nip Dorman Parris Funderburke had 10 points and eight rebounds to lead the Gaffney junior varsity to a 35-33 win over Dorman on Tuesday.

      Junior forward Joseph Gripper scored 14 of his team-high 19 points in the second half to help host St. Andrews Presbyterian College hold off Conference Carolinas foe Limestone College, 87-77, on Monday night in Harris Court.
