Edward Tate
Edward Tate, 87, of Gaffney, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, in Peachtree Centre.
Born in Cherokee County, he was a son of the late Ed Tate and Letha Rice Tate. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member and deacon of New Zion Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., and a retired supervisor from a shipbuilding company.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Tate was preceded in death by his siblings, Wakefield Tate, Earnest Tate, Roosevelt Tate, Daniel Tate, Julius Tate, Marshall Tate, Ruth Tate Ellis and Olee Tate.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Timothy L. Hunter officiating. Interment will follow in Gaffney Memorial Park.
The family is at the home of Faye and Rayford Peeler, 123 Connecticut Ave.
