City council OKs rezoning request

      Gaffney City Council approved a rezoning request Monday that clears the way for the construction of duplexes for the elderly. Paul Robinson of Vantage Development told council his company plans to build 40 affordable housing units on a parcel of land on West Buford Street.

Souper Bowl

Preliminary hearing held for pet store bandits

      Charges against two young men accused in a Dec. 18 attempted hold-up of a Gaffney Pet Store will move forward, Cherokee County Chief Magistrate Bart Howell ruled following a preliminary hearing Tuesday. Eighteen-year-old Ryan Daniel Townson and 18-yearold Lagarrick Jamar Wilkie are charged along with a 15- year-old juvenile.
