¦ Grassy Pond Baptist Church will have Ladies Sunday on Feb. 10 at 11 a.m. Guest speaker will Deb Sobeski, mother of Hannah Sobeski, a high school senior who lost her battle with cancer at the beginning of her senior year. Everyone is invited come hear Ms. Sobeski share Hannah's inspirational story. A love offering will be taken.

¦ The youths of Bethany Baptist Church, 215 Wilkinsville Hwy., will sponsor a community-wide pizza and movie night Saturday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m. The movie to be shown is "Escape from Hell." ¦ The Shady Grove Church Young Women's Auxiliary (YWA) will have its annual banquet, "It's a Love Affair," on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 5 p.m. in the Shady Grove Church Fellowship Hall. On the menu will be steak, baked potato, salad, corn, chicken and dessert. A $10 donation is requested per person. On Sunday, Feb. 10, the YWAs will have their "100 Women in Red "program during the 11 a.m. service. Guest speaker will be Minister Vernelle Wilson, pastor of Temple Grain Ministries. Her church family and choirs will be worshiping with the Shady Grove Church family. The theme is "Issues of the Heart". Everyone is invited to attend.

¦ A Valentine banquet will be held Saturday, Feb. 9, at 6:30 p.m. at Suck Creek Baptist Church Life Center. Admission is $10 for adults; $5 for children 4-12; and free for children under 3. The event is semi-formal and will feature a skit, door prizes, a musical surprise and a sermonette. A photographer will be present to take pictures. Just recently Southside opened its Family Life Center for the community to use for exercise walking on Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m.-1 a.m The Family Life Center will now be available on Fridays from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. A free brochure on the benefits of walking and how to start a personal walking program is available at no cost by calling or e-mailing the church. ¦ Chesnee Gospel Music Center will have a singing Saturday, Feb. 9, featuring The Rogers of Blacksburg. Another singing will be held Saturday, Feb. 16, featuring Jamie Tolley of Ripley, W.Va., and another singing on Saturday, Feb. 23, will feature Larry Hill of Spartanburg.

¦ The Tuesday Woman's Club will meet on Feb. 12 at 4 p.m. in the Limestone Presbyterian Church Parlor. Hostesses are Mrs. Joe Bonner, Mrs. John Hubbard, Mrs. David Thompson.

¦ The Cherokee County Republican Women's Club will meet Feb. 11 in Limestone College dining hall. The meeting, a business session for the coming year, will begin at 11:45 a.m. All members are urged to attend and visitors are welcome.

¦ The Cherokee County branch of the NAACP will meet Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. at West Side Full Gospel Church.

¦ The Medical Explorers will meet Monday, Feb. 11, from 6-7 p.m. in the classroom at Upstate Carolina Medical Center. This is an established group of students who have expressed interest in healthcare careers and who want hands-on involvement.
