SPARTANBURG - The Music Foundation of Spartanburg is conducting a fundraiser, Hottest Ticket in Town, at the Chapman Cultural Center to provide scholarship opportunities for music students through the Alia Lawson Pre-College Department of Music at Converse College. Aspiring music students in middle schools and high schools can compete for 13 $200 scholarships funded by The Music Foundation. These scholarships help pay the cost of their instrument lessons through the Pre-College program. Hottest Ticket in Town will be held on March 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapman Cultural Center Theatre Lobby. The cost to attend the event is $75 per person. Dueling pianos, Richard and Marty (formerly of Crocodile Rocks), and dueling chefs from six local restaurants will be featured, as well as a live auction and the announcement of the Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra's 2008-2009 concert season. "Our mission is to educate, entertain, and enrich the Spartanburg community through quality music programs," said Music Foundation's Executive Director Erica Hurtuea. "We need the support of the community and all are welcome at this fundraising event that benefits schools, children and all of our other programming." Voting on the Hottest Chef in Town will take place and two live auctions consisting of season tickets to the SPO, opening night gala, dinner for eight at Brevard Music Center and complimentary dinners.
