Easter events

Remembering Jesus' last supper with his disciples in the upper room, Circle of Grace Lutheran Chapel will gather Thursday, March 20, at 7 p.m. for a service of Holy Communion. The evening's worship will conclude with stripping the altar in preparation for Good Friday worship the following evening.

White Plains Baptist Church, 206 Soap Stone Road, will have an Ester egg hunt Saturday, March 22, at 10 a.m. at the church.

Benefits

A Poor Man's Supper and gospel singing will be held Saturday, March 22, beginning at 5 p.m. at Central Baptist Church Family Life Center. The menu includes pintos, cornbread, slaw, pickles, onions and desserts. Singers are The Hamptons, Miracles By Faith, Saved by the Blood and others. All proceeds will benefit Relay for Life and is sponsored by the Painter family team in loving memory of Josie Painter.

A benefit concert for Amy Lee, a 36-year-old cancer patient and mother of three, will be held Saturday, March 22, at 6 p.m. at the Chesnee Music Center. Featured singers are Servants Call, Higher Praise and Jennifer Grissop. Refreshments will be available. For more information call Tony, 828-202-5603.

Meetings

Moses Wood Camp 125, Sons of Confederate Veterans, will meet Thursday, March 20, at 1746 N. Limestone St. Food will be served at 6 p.m. for a small donation. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Speaker will be William E. Lockridge whose topic will be the Battle of Selma.

Church news

The Church School Department of Bethel Baptist Church will present its annual Easter program Wednesday, March 19, at 6 p.m. Recitations and a short playlet will be presented by the young people and adults.
