Una man using 9-year-old's Social Security number, complaint states The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office has been asked to investigate a claim that a 35-year-old man living in Una has been using a nineyear old child's Social Security number. The complaint was filed March 10. The person who filed the complaint claims the Gaffney child's Social Security number was used to obtain water, cable and electricity services. Business hit by bullet A North Limestone Street business might have been struck by a bullet Thursday. An unknown person shot a hole in the side of C&D Repair, 1204 N. Limestone Street, causing an estimated $500 in damage, according to a Gaffney City Police incident report. Breach of trust alleged Gaffney Police have filed an arrest warrant for a 23- year-old Gaffney woman accused of under-ringing a cash register at a Prime Outlets - Gaffney store. Clufundria Evelese Dawkins, of Redwood Circle, is charged with breach of trust in excess of $1,000. According to the arrest warrant, police allege Dawkins did under-ring merchandise valued at $2,307 and then allowed the merchandise to be taken from the Polo - Ralph Lauren outlet store. The alleged offense occurred between Dec. 5, 2007 and Feb. 20, according to the warrant filed by Det. Ron Ramsey. Office burglarized Gaffney Police reported someone broke into an apartment complex office on Thursday, taking $150 but possibly leaving something behind. The unknown burglar broke a bathroom window to gain access to the offices of Craigwood Apartments, South Oliver Street, sometime between noon and 2 p.m. on Thursday. Police said the suspect may have cut himself, as possible blood was found on the window sill. Theft and damage losses are estimated at $200. Pills stolen A Grace Street, Gaffney home was broken into Thursday and the only thing reported missing was prescription medication. According to a police report, the break-in occurred sometime between 8 a.m. and 5:40 p.m. Thursday. The homeowner found both her front and rear doors open upon her arrival and noticed 50 pills of the prescription medicine Soma were missing from her bedroom. The homeowner told police she found a hat near the rear of her home that might have belonged to a suspect. Trailer stolen Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported someone stole a trailer from a Scruggs Trail property sometime between March 2 and March 8. The trailer was described as a 1980 equipment trailer, displaying the vehicle identification number NCX 563955. The trailer is 14 feet long and 6 feet wide. It is red with black ramps. Police said the trailer is valued at about $1,500. SUV stolen The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is on the lookout for a stolen vehicle. According to a police report, someone stole a 2007 Suzuki XL7 sports utility vehicle from a parking lot at 1124 Chesnee Hwy. in Gaffney. The black vehicle had a South Carolina license plate of 280 SNN. Police said the vehicle is valued at about $22,000. The theft occurred sometime between the evening of March 7 and the early morning hours of March 8. Car loaded up The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a Friday evening incident in which someone loaded up a car on a flatbed trailer and drove it away. According to a police report, a sky blue 1966 Chevrolet Impala was taken from an East Junior High Road property sometime between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. A neighbor saw a flat bed trailer load up the vehicle and drive it away. The car is valued at about $1,500. Moped missing Gaffney police reported the theft of a moped from a North Limestone Street apartment complex. Sometime between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tuesday, someone stole a blue Rokita moped that had been parked outside an apartment at 940 N. Limestone St. The moped is valued at about $1,200. Trailer stripped Someone caused an estimated $3,500 in damage to a vacant Kentwood Road trailer when they stripped it of copper, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. The exact date of the theft was unknown since the trailer hadn't been checked on regularly. The theft and damage was reported March 14. Break-in reported A burglar broke into a Cherokee Avenue home in Gaffney on Sunday and stole a RCA television valued at about $900, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. The thief or thieves broke into the home in the 4000 block by prying open a rear door sometime between 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The 36- inch television was the only item reported missing. Warrants filed Gaffney police have filed arrest warrants against a city man accused of two vehicle break-ins. Police allege 42-year-old Blakely Lee Foster Sr. broke into vehicles at 301 N. Logan St. and 212 W. Birnie Street on March 15. During the incident on North Logan Street, according to a police report, a Gaffney police officer noticed a broken window on a 1988 Honda parked in a lot. Police said the CD player was missing. Other officers patrolling the area found Foster walking on Oakland Avenue near Mill Street, a few blocks from the vehicle break-in. Police said Foster had a Pioneer CD player under his jacket and a screwdriver in his pocket. Thief escapes The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a Sunday evening incident in which the owner of a scrap yard caught someone stealing copper. According to a police report, Randy Smith, of Smith's Scrap Yard on Cherokee Falls Road, was alerted to a silent alarm at his businesses and found a person trying to steal copper. Police said Smith shot at the suspect several times. The suspect fled the scene, leaving behind a cloth bag containing pieces of copper. |
