Dorman beats Indians

By LARRY HILLIARD Ledger Sports Editor larry@gaffneyledger.com

Defending Class 4A state golf champion Dorman Cavaliers reminded the Gaffney Indians just how good they are on Tuesday.

The Cavaliers shot a 3- under 141 at Carolina Country Club to beat the visiting Indians by eight strokes. Christ Church was a distant third with a 177.

Dorman's Will Ovenden ran away from the field, shooting a 5-under 31.

Matthew Hopper was the Indians top finisher with a 1- under 35.

Seventh-grader Trey Taylor was a bright spot for the Indians, firing a 1-over 37.

He started off his round poorly, shooting a triple bogey but played the remaining eight holes at 2-under.

Daniel Whisenant had a 38 and Adam Goins shot a 39 to round out the Indians' scoring.
