Easter events

White Plains Baptist Church, 206 Soap Stone Road, will have an Ester egg hunt Saturday at 10 a.m.

Southside Baptist Church, 204 W. O'Neal St., will have an Easter sunrise service at 7 a.m on the hill overlooking the church (weather permitting; if not the service will be in the sanctuary). Following the service, there will be a free breakfast in the Family Life Center.

An Easter play, "No Holds Barred!," written by Celena Davis, will be presented Sunday at 5 p.m. at Suck Creek Baptist Church Life Center, 210 Daniel Morgan Road. There will also be presentations by the CPAD Dance Ministry and Hands of Worship Mime Ministry of Suck Creek; the Praise Dance Ministry of Way of Life Praise and Worship Center; and special praise and worship by Greater Buck Shoals Praise Team.

Bethel Baptist Church will have its Easter worship service with devotional services at 7:45 a.m. and call to worship at 8. Dr. J.W. Sanders Sr. will deliver a special Easter message and the church choir will sing. This will be the only service. Breakfast will be served after the services and Sunday School will follow.

Friendship Baptist Church, Spartanburg, and First Baptist Church of Fairforest will hold a combined Easter sunrise service at Friendship Baptist, 250 Morning Drive, at 6 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. W. Irvin Jenkins, pastor of First Baptist Fairforest, will be the speaker.

The Youth Ministry of Shady Grove Baptist Church will present its annual Easter program Sunday at 9:45 a.m. The church's Education Ministry will have an Olan Mills' Easter picture event Saturday, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Individuals can purchase a coupon for $10 and receive a family portrait or a kids' package. Call 490-0268 to arrange an appointment and for information.

The Rev. Larry Sanders along with Marshall Goforth, Minister of Music, and the congregation of Park Hills Baptist Church, 1100 Leadmine Road, invite you to join them Sunday as they celebrate Easter. The day begins at 7:15 a.m. with an outdoor sunrise service. The choir will present an Easter cantata, "Amazing Grace," at 10:50 a.m. Special story narration will be by Mike Dobbins and solos will be performed by Ross Bratton and Tammy Hancock.

Shady Grove Baptist Church will have its annual Easter Egg Hunt and Family Fun Day Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. Children and adults are welcome.

Southside Baptist Church, 204 W. O'Neal St., will have a children's Easter egg hunt Saturday from 2-4 p.m. for children through fifth grade.

Easter morning services at the Ebenezer Baptist Church will be held at 9 a.m. Only one service is planned; Sunday School has been cancelled. Pastor Freddy Davidson will deliver the message.

Benefits

A Poor Man's Supper and gospel singing will be held March 22 at 5 p.m. at Central Baptist Church Family Life Center. The menu includes pintos, cornbread, slaw, pickles, onions and desserts. Singers are The Hamptons, Miracles By Faith, Saved by the Blood and others. The event is sponsored by the Painter family team and all proceeds will benefit Relay for Life.

A benefit concert for Amy Lee will be held March 22 at 6 p.m. at the Chesnee Music Center. Singers are Servants Call, Higher Praise and Jennifer Grissop. Refreshments available.

Special events

The Smooth Crew Social Club will have an Easter egg hunt Saturday in Thomson Park from noon until 6 p.m. Children ages two through 12 years are invited to participate and must be accompanied by someone 18 years or older. Bring a basket for the hunt that starts at 2 p.m. There will be free food and drinks, lots of prizes and treats.
