Gaffney assistant to become a Tiger

      Gaffney assistant coach Marcus Bradley knows he's been in good company during his brief coaching career. Bradley will become a football graduate assistant at Clemson University either in the fall or next spring. He'll be serving as a weight and conditioning coach.

Gaffney golfers lead pack

      The Gaffney Indians proved too much for the 19-team field at the Hartman Memorial on Monday. The Indians shot a 312 for a 5-shot, firstround lead over Pinewood Prep. Blythewood was third with a 319. Gaffney golf coach Todd Coggins said the Indians must duplicate Tuesday's effort during today's final round.

Gaffney track teams make strides in region

      Move over Dorman and Spartanburg. There's a new region contender - the Gaffney Indians. The Gaffney boys track team finished its region schedule with a 4-2 record after beating Mauldin and Hillcrest last Thursday. The Indians' only losses were to perennial powers Dorman and Spartanburg.

      Local Gamecock Club meeting April 8 The Spartanburg-Cherokee- Greenville Gamecock clubs will hold its spring meeting at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium Tuesday, April 8, with dinner starting at 5:30 p.m. and the program starting at 7 p.m. The guest speakers will be Steve Spurrier and administrative staff.

Gaffney jayvees capture tourney
STAFF REPORTS
      The Gaffney junior varsity golf team used the home course to its advantage to capture the 2008 Indian Invitational Tournament on Tuesday. Fourteen teams competed in the event. Gaffney shot a 318 to finish four strokes ahead of Easley. Boiling Springs finished third with a 323.

      LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Rick Pitino told everybody his team was not in a shooting slump. After shooting just 39 percent in consecutive losses to Georgetown and Pittsburgh, Louisville won its first two games of the NCAA tournament by a combined 48 points.
