8-year-old says he was hit in arm with brass knuckles at school

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office investigated the alleged assault of an eightyear old boy at Goucher Elementary School on Wednesday by a seven-yearold boy with brass knuckles.

According to an incident report, the eight-year-old boy claimed he was struck in the arm, though he could not tell police which arm. Police said the boy had no visible marks.

The seven-year-old who had the brass knuckles was punished by the school and the brass knuckles were turned over to police, according to the incident report.

Burglary thwarted

A neighbor of a vacant North Granard Street home apparently stopped a burglary in progress last Saturday, according to a Gaffney police report.

Between 11:30 and 11:41 a.m. Saturday, the neighbor of a vacant home in the 1200 block of North Granard saw two young males in the yard. They dropped a bucket after being spotted and fled. A police officer subsequently found the back door of the vacant home had been forced open.

The bucket contained various copper and wire items but it was determined the copper had not been taken from the vacant home, according to a police report. Door damage on the vacant home is estimated at $100.

TVs Taken

Three televisions valued at more than $3,000 were stolen from a Crestmont Drive home early last Saturday by a burglar or burglars who kicked open a door, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.

Among the items taken were 52-inch, 32-inch and 40- inch flat screen televisions. The televisions are valued at $3,299 while the door damage is estimated at $150.

Paintball vandals

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating an apparent vandalism spree in the Blacksburg area in which someone shot multiple buildings and vehicles with a paintball gun.

Between midnight and noon last Saturday, police received reports that pink paintball pellets were shot at a home and garage on North Mountain Street, three vehicles parked on North Shelby Street, four homes on Cherokee Falls Road and a home on Claud Road.

Four charged

Gaffney police have filed arrest warrants against four individuals following a March 19 traffic stop that resulted in the seizure of alleged drugs.

According to an incident report, police stopped a Buick near Buford and North Limestone Street at about10:12 p.m. on March 19 for a traffic violation.

Police said one of the vehicle's occupants, 28-year-old Brian Sentell Posey, of Foxfire Drive, was seen placing something in his mouth and police recovered a green, plantlike substance. Police said they also found a glassine bag containing suspected cocaine and a glassine bag containing white powder residue in the vehicle. All occupants of the vehicle denied ownership of the bags and all were arrested for possession with intent to deliver cocaine and possession with intent to deliver cocaine in proximity of a school.

Also charged were: Ernest Nathan Hull, 29, of Osage Drive; Jamarkous Tyrone Dawkins, 26, of West Buford Street, and Francesca Lejeune Smith, 33, of Camellia Circle.

Thieves hit car wash

Someone stole an unknown amount of change and damaged four coin boxes at a Beech Street car wash sometime between Saturday and Monday, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.

Police said someone pried open four coin boxes at the car wash owned by H&O Properties Inc. Besides the stolen change, police said the thief or thieves also took the front covers from each of the coin boxes. There was no estimate of damage or theft losses.

Items stolen

Gaffney Police are investigating the break-in of a vehicle early Tuesday morning in which a thief or thieves made off with about $2,000 in cash and equipment.

Among the items stolen from a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu parked in the 500 block of McCluney Drive were: $900 in cash, a compact disk case containing about 40 CDs, a Pioneer car stereo, a Polaroid digital camera, curlers and a blow dryer. Police said the thief or thieves broke a window to gain access to the vehicle and its trunk. Police said it appeared the thief also tried to gain access to a 1998 Ford Expedition.
