Ewing Middle School has received $2,500 from the Food Lion Charitable Foundation.

Ewing Middle will use the gift to purchase science and social studies materials such as practice workbooks for the Palmetto Achievement Challenge Test.

"We at Ewing appreciate Food Lion's contributions and commitment to our school as well as the community we both serve," assistant principal Tim Phillips said.

These resources will allow teachers to incorporate higher order and critical thinking skills into the science and social studies classroom. This material will also reinforce basic skills and test taking strategies as well as target areas where students need improvement.

Established in 2001, the Food Lion Charitable Foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to improving the communities in which Food Lion operates.
