Sarratt uses bat and arm to lead Gaffney Indians to win
Gaffney's Julie Sarratt put her arm and bat to work against Dorman on Thursday.
Sarratt allowed just four hits and struck out six and was 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Lady Indians to a 5- 1 win over Dorman.
The Lady Indians would score all the runs they would need in the fifth when Lana Ward and Ashley Mabry both reached on an error and Sarratt had a RBI single.
Gaffney added two more runs in the sixth on a Megan Standridge hit, a RBI single by Hillary Key and an error, which allowed another run to score.
The Lady Cavaliers scored their only run in the sixth before Gaffney answered with a single tally in the seventh when Mabry reached on an error and scored on Cameron Crocker's single.
Gaffney improves to 5-2 in the region and moves into a second-place tie with Boiling Springs. Those teams meet today at Boiling Springs.
"It was good to get the win (against Dorman) and have momentum for today's game," Gaffney coach Kelly Ellis said.
