"Take a Loved One to the Doctor Day" celebrated by health center
ReGenesis Community Health Center will hold its first annual event to encourage individuals to take control of their health. This event is part of the national campaign, "Take a Loved One to the Doctor Day."
The event will be held at ReGenesis Community Health Center on Monday, April 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The health center is located at 1419 N. Limestone St. On this day, ReGenesis supports its doors to individuals in the community who may need a medical home. Through this movement, the community is encouraged to help a family member, friend, or neighbor by bringing them to the event to make an appointment or just to visit the facility.
"Take a Loved One to the Doctor Day" will begin with free health screenings from 8:30 am to 12 pm. If a family member, friend, or neighbor does not want to make an appointment, participating in the screenings can be just as beneficial.
The screenings will include cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, weight, and body fat percentage. If anyone plans on taking part in the cholesterol or glucose screenings, ReGenesis Community Health Center asks that you fast 8 hours before the actual screening. This means no food or drink. Colon cancer screening kits will also be available during the event.
Not only is ReGenesis Community Health Center celebrating this national campaign
and providing free health screenings to the community, April 14 will also be a grand opening celebration for the center.
At 11a.m., a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on the front steps of the center. Even though ReGenesis has been open for months, the ceremony will mean much more than just a grand opening.
"It is like a sigh of relief mixed with feelings of accomplishment. Cutting the red ribbon in front of individuals who made our move to Gaffney possible and patients who value our presence in the community will be a moment to cherish for ReGenesis," said community relations coordinator, Marci Stovall.
