Lawrence F. Byars, 63, passed away Friday, April 11, 2008, at his residence.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Susan Byrd Byars and son of the late Charles F. Byars and Pearley Martin Byars. He was a graduate of Limestone College and employed by Roger Shiflett Pontiac-Buick-GMC. Mr. Byars was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Charles O. Byars and wife, Sarah, of Kingsport, Tenn.; a sister, Rachel M. Smith and husband, Zain, of Gaffney; six step-children, John Solum of Kentucky, Stacey Prescott and Jennifer Bruce, both of Georgia, Tim Solum of California, Kim Solum and Katie Solum, both of Gaffney; nine step-grandchildren, Danniel, Alexis, Devin, Mary, Kaylee, David, Alan, Zoey, Jewel and Kaylin.

Services will be held Tuesday, April 15, at 2 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Manfred Martin, Elder Brian Ruppe and Elder Doug Fowler officiating. Interment will be held at Oakland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 14, from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.
