BPW waiting on school district to finalize scoreboard contract The (t)s have yet to be crossed and (i)s haven't been dotted in the Gaffney Board of Public Works' contract to become a primary sponsor of Gaffney High School's new football stadium scoreboard. BPW commissioners agreed last summer to shell out $150,000 to buy ad space on the stadium scoreboard. Board of Public Works General Manager Donnie Hardin said BPW attorney James Thompson is still waiting on information from the school district's legal team. Hardin has said the contract will address several issues, including maintenance of the sign. "This is a business deal between the school system and Board which needs to be put down in writing," Hardin said. "We want to make sure that everybody is protected." Hardin said the utility has yet to transfer the money to the school system. That won't happen until the Board approves the contract. Hardin said the contract might be completed in time for the commissioners meeting in May. Commissioner Roger Harris, who opposed the expenditure, has asked to review the contract before it's signed. |
