Picnic table stolen from yard Three men in a black Dodge truck reportedly stole a heavy wood picnic table from an Ellis Ferry Road yard Thursday. The property owner noticed the theft of the table, valued at about $100, upon returning home at about 1:30 p.m. A witness from the nearby Town and Country Apartments saw three men in a truck take the table, according to Gaffney Police. Gaffney police are on the lookout for about 400 feet of stainless steel pipe stolen from a Hyatt Street business. According to a police report, someone scaled a fence to a property in the 400 block of Hyatt Street to gain access to the pipes, which were in various lengths and sizes. The pipes are valued at about $3,500, making the theft a grand larceny. A copper thief struck a North Logan Street home recently, according to Gaffney police. Sometime between 5 p.m. on April 9 and 5 p.m. on April 10, someone broke into a residence in the 900 block and stole all the copper pipe located in an attic space. The home sustained about $800 in window damage, $300 in roof damage and $1,000 in pipe damage, according to a police report. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the Monday burglary of a Wilcox Avenue bar. According to an incident report, someone broke into the Silver Dollar sometime between 4:31 a.m. and 1 p.m. Once inside, the burglar(s) stole $2,200 in cash and $490 in beer and liquor. The burglar( s) also caused $1,500 in damage to a pool table, $400 in damage to video game machines and $500 in door damage, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. A Gaffney resident reported to police someone stole a handgun from his truck sometime last week. The Smith & Wesson Sigma pistol was taken sometime between April 8 and April 13. The man did not specifically know where or when the theft occurred. The gun is valued at $300. Two vehicles parked on East Knott Street were vandalized on Sunday. According to a report from Gaffney police, someone threw a rock through the rear window of a 1995 Chevrolet and scratched the paint on a 1999 Saturn, causing about $750 in damage. The incident happened sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. A Virginia woman who left her purse momentarily unattended during a Saturday visit to Prime Outlets - Gaffney lost about $720 in cash and other items when someone stole it. According to a report from Gaffney police, the purse was taken while the woman was shopping in Banana Republic at about 3:35 p.m. Saturday. The purse is described as a brown Banana Republic totestyle bag. It contained a "Hobo" leather wallet. An Asheville, N.C., woman reported her vehicle was stolen from East Birnie Street sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning. According to Gaffney police, the 2003 Buick Century was parked near Smitty's Sports Bar. The car, valued at $5,000, was black, had chrome rims and a dent in the left front fender. A Spartanburg man's vehicle was stolen from a West Floyd Baker Boulevard parking lot Sunday. According to an incident report, a 2006 Kia Sorrento belonging to an employee of Walgreens was stolen from the lot sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. The silver vehicle had a South Carolina license plate and a McCracken Jr. High emblem on the hatch. |
