Children registering for 5- year-old kindergarten must be five on or before September 1, 2008. To apply for the 4-yearold kindergarten program, children must be four on or before September 1, 2008. Parents may apply for the 4- year-old program at one of the following schools: B.D. The following documents are required for registration in either 4K or 5K programs:

1. Valid birth certificate issued by the state in which the child was born (not the hospital copy.)

2. A South Carolina certificate of immunization from either the child's doctor or the health department (not the pink card.)

3. Medicaid card.

4. Proof of residency (utility bill, rent or lease agreement)

Children cannot be legally registered without the above information. Parents may bring their children with them, but are not required to do so.

In accordance with State Regulation 61-8, students entering kindergarten must have a second measles immunization, Hepatitis B immunization and the Varicella Vaccine or positive history of disease. If a child's immunization record is not complete, parents should call the Cherokee County Health Department at 487-2705 or their doctor to schedule needed immunizations before the dates of registration.

If you have any questions, call Donna Peeler at 902-3558 or contact the principal at your child's school.
