Thomas Smith

Thomas Smith, 65, of Apt. 904, Iveywood Apartments, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2008, at 1:57 a.m. in Spartanburg Regional Medical System, Spartanburg.

A native of Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Columbus Smith and the late Amzime Davis Smith. He was a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church and a former employee of Mr. Zip in San Antonio, Texas.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by two brothers, Columbus Smith and Leroy Smith.

Surviving are his son, Brucie B. Dawkins of Charlotte; for sisters, Shirley Jean Tate, Yvonie Smith, both of Gaffney, Janet Clara Davis of Bridgeton, N.J., and Sherry L. Smith of Shelby; a granddaughter, Asley Dawkins Hopper of Gaffney; a close friend, Doris L. Miller of Gaffney; and a host of other relatives.

Services will be held Tuesday, April 22, at 12 p.m. at Mount Tabor Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Darrell Smith. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m.
