Sara R. Queen
Sara Eloise Ramsey Queen, 74, formerly of 609 Garvin Lake Road, died Sunday, April 20, 2008 at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Gaffney, Mrs. Queen was the widow of Willie Junior Queen and daughter of the late William Clarence and Margaret Louise Riddle Queen. Mrs. Queen worked as a nurse for over 40 years at Cherokee Memorial Hospital and Mary Black Hospital. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Queen are a son, Darrell Queen of Gaffney; a daughter, Sonya Dickerson of Gaffney; a brother, Lewis Ramsey of Gaffney; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Queen was preceded in death by four brothers, Oscar, Eugene, Rosco and Henry Ramsey.
Services will be held Wednesday, April 23, at 11 a.m. at Northside Baptist Church with Dr. Edward McAbee and the Revs. Vernon Mullinax and Alan Dollar officiating. Interment will follow in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 22, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Gordon Mortuary, Blacksburg.
The family will be at the home of her son, 139 Brookstone Lane, Gaffney, and also at the home of her daughter, 1551 Overbrook Drive, Lot 21, in Gaffney.
