Former employee of Mr. Zip in San Antonio, Texas.

 
Thomas Smith, 64, of Apt. 904, Iveywood Apartments, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2008, at 1:57 a.m. in Spartanburg Regional Medical System, Spartanburg.

A native of Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Columbus Smith and the late Amzime Davis Smith. He was a 1961 graduate of Granard High School and a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam. A member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church, he was a former employee of Mr. Zip in San Antonio, Texas.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by two brothers, Columbus Smith and Leroy Smith.

Surviving are his son, Brucie B. Dawkins (Barbara) of Charlotte; five sisters, Shirley Jean Tate, Yvonnie Smith, Janet Smith, all of Gaffney, Clara Davis of Bridgeton, N.J., and Sherry L. Smith of Shelby; a granddaughter, Ashley Dawkins Hopper of Gaffney; two stepchildren, James Wright and Michael Wright of California; a close friend, Doris L. Miller of Gaffney; and a host of other relatives.

Services will be held Tuesday, April 22, at 12 p.m. at Mount Tabor Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Darrell Smith and Anitonette Gardner. Interment will be in the church ceme- tery. Body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m.

Pallbearers will be S.J. Peeler, Lee Brown, Bo Dawkins, Robert Gregory, Larry Dawkins, Christopher Littlejohn and Everette Dawkins.

Flower bearers will be Shirley Littlejohn, Virginia Logan, Juanita Mayberry, Shirley Wood and Lori Simpson.

Honorary pallbearers and honorary flower bearers will be members of the Granard High School Class of 1961.
