Crusaders surprise Limestone

      The Belmont Abbey Crusaders shocked the No. 3- ranked Limestone College Saints in the Conference Carolinas Championship Sunday when Michael Brown scored with 11 seconds left to lift his team to the 11-10 victory. It marked the first time since 1999 that Limestone (12-1 overall) has not won its conference tournament title.

Indians earn coveted playoff spot

      The Gaffney High baseball team got what it needed the most on Friday - a Boiling Springs win over Byrnes. The Bulldogs' victory secured a playoff spot for the surging Indians, who won four of their last five region games. Gaffney will open the Class 4A district playoffs on Thursday at York at 7 p.m.

Busch earns third straight Nationwide Series victory

Busch won his third consecutive race on NASCAR's Nationwide Series, taking the Corona Mexico 200 by less than a second Sunday.       The Limestone College Lady Saints lacrosse team won the 2008 Conference Carolinas tournament with a 9-4 victory against Belmont Abbey in the championship final on Sunday afternoon at Saints Field. The No. 2-ranked Lady Saints climb to 15-1.
