The local organization celebrated the occasion by worshipping at Limestone Missionary Baptist Church and honoring a citizen of the community for her service to mankind, one of the principles on which the sorority was founded.

Betty B. Edwards was presented a plaque during the morning worship service at Limestone Church, where she is a member. Mrs. Edwards is a help to the elderly and disabled in her church and community. Before her retirement, she was one of the directors of the Head Start program in Gaffney.

The sorority is a international group of college-educated women that was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C., in 1908.
