Church news

Cherokee Falls Baptist Church, 109 School St., Cherokee Falls, will have a singing Sunday, April 27, at 6 p.m. featuring the Songsters.

Draytonville Baptist Church will have a womanless beauty pageant Saturday, April 26, to raise money to build church in McNairy, Ariz., on the Apache Indian Reservation. Admission is $5. Come early and enjoy hot dogs and the cost will be $8 for both. The hot dog supper starts at 5 p.m. and the pageant at 6:30. Bring spare change to vote for your favorite beauty.

The men of Bethel Baptist Church will sponsor their annual Men's Conference for all males (sixth graders and older) Saturday, April 26, at 10:30 a.m. Various sessions will be held with several facilitators. A fellowship luncheon will follow the conference.

There will be a special service Friday, April 25, at 7 p.m. at New Harvest Ministries, 215 Pecan St. Evangelist/ missionary Mike Brown of Keavy, Ky., will be ministering.

The deacons and trustee ministries of Limestone Missionary Baptist Church will have their annual program Sunday, April 27, during the morning service at 11. Speaker will be the pastor, Rev. Michael L. Golden.

The Women's Ministry of Limestone Missionary Baptist Church will have its annual tea Saturday, April 26, at 10 a.m. A continental breakfast will be served from 8:45-9:45 a.m. The topic of the program is "At The Well." Speakers will be Evangelist Cherella Lee of Bountiful Blessing Temple of Deliverance, Roebuck, and Minister Oveda Miller of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Charlotte, A $5 donation is requested.

The Shady Grove Baptist Church Youth Choir will celebrate its 18th anniversary with a special praise program Sunday, April 27, at 4 p.m Other local choirs will be on program.

Mikes Creek Missionary Baptist Church will have a women's conference Saturday, April 26. Breakfast will be served at 8:30 a.m. and lunch will also be served. Cost is $10 for adults and $8 for teens.

Metropolitan AME Zion Church will have a class leaders program Sunday, April 27, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Antoinette Gardner, associate minister of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, will be the speaker.

The senior citizens of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church will sponsor their annual senior citizens program Sunday, April 27. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Mills McHam, pastor of Green Bethel Baptist Church, Gaffney.

The Pastor's Aide Ministry of Mt Sinai Missionary Baptist Church will sponsor a Rainbow Tea Saturday, May 3, at 6 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Cherokee County, 201 Pecan St. Tickets are $10 and the public is invited.

Class No. 4 of Trinity AME Zion Church, 109 S. Academy St., Blacksburg, will sponsor its annual fellowship program Sunday, April 27, at 3 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Dennis Rector, pastor of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Gaffney.

Kings Creek Church of God in Blacksburg will have a gospel singing for Pastor's Appreciation Day on April 27 at 6 p.m. Featured will be His Anointed, a mime team and other singers.

Way of Life Praise and Worship Center Inc., 1320 Old Georgia Hwy., will have revival services April 28-May 2 at 7:30 p.m. Themed "Help, I've Fallen and I Can't Get Up," speakers will be Bishop Harold and Pastor Caroline Jones.

Fund raisers

A car wash will be held Saturday, April 26, at McDonald's for Relay for Life in memory of Julie Mae Rhinehart Owensby by the Red Bird Team.

The Palmetto Bank in Blacksburg will have a hot dog sale Friday, May 2, to help raise money for Relay for Life. Plates will be $6 each at the Blacksburg branch. Plates include two hot dogs, slaw and chips.

Gospel concerts

The Lewis Family of Lincolnton, Ga., will perform their 39th annual concert at Ellenboro Elementary School on Sunday, April 27, at 2:30 p.m. The Lewis Family are winners of many Dove awards, 2005 inductees into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and 2006 inductees into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Honor. Admission is $8 for adults in advance or $10 at the door; children 6-12, $2 advance and at door; under 6 are free. Advance tickets may be obtained by calling 828-453- 7590. Proceeds from the concert will go to Hospice of Rutherford County.

Meetings

The Gaffney Business and Professional Women's Club will meet on Monday, April 28, at 6:30 p. m. at the House of Pizza The program will be an installation service of the new officers for 2008-2009. Cyndi Waters, BPW/SC treasurer, will install these following officers: Trysha Blanton as president; Stacey McDaniel Tabor as vice-president; Elizabeth McDaniel as secretary; and Patty Greene as treasurer. Guests and prospective new members are welcome.
