S. C. EMS Association names Moss Legislator of the Year
Rep. Moss addresses the EMS Association. The South Carolina Emergency Medical Services Association named Representative Dennis Moss (Dist. 29) the 2008 Legislator of the Year on Saturday, April 19, at their Annual Emergency Care Symposium in Myrtle Beach.
"It is an honor to be recognized by this distinguished organization. Over the past two years, I have worked tirelessly with the EMS Association to bring attention to the problems with the new Medicaid non-emergency transportation brokering system," stated Moss.
The EMS association recognized Rep. Moss for his efforts in trying to help their service providers across the state resolve issues they have been faced with since the implementation of the new Medicaid non-emergency transportation system. The new system has been creating problems for senior citizens across the state. Rep. Moss committed himself to being an active voice for the senior citizens in this state and to bringing attention to this broken system.
During Rep. Moss' first term in office he requested that the S.C. Legislative Audit Council conduct an audit of the new Medicaid non-emergency transportation brokering system that is being run by two out-of-state brokering firms. Since the audit began, it has been said by officials of the Lt. Governor's Office on Aging, that this may be the most needed audit ever conducted by the Legislative Audit Council.
"I hope that by the conclusion of this audit, needed changes will be made to correct a broken system. Our senior citizens deserve a Medicaid non-emergency system that effectively works for them," said Moss.
