Stan Clardy has been performing "Soldiers in Gray" since 1998 and will be at Fullerton Auditorium May 3-4. Limestone College will host a benefit performance of Stan Clardy's "Soldiers in Gray, a Musical Journey" on May 3 and 4 in Fullerton Auditorium. The event will assist in raising funds for the restoration of Winnie Davis Hall of History. Saturday's performance will begin at 7 p.m. and the Sunday show will start at 3 p.m.

Stan Clardy has been performing "Soldiers in Gray" since 1998 and will be celebrating the 200th performance at Limestone College. Clardy and his wife, Cathy, live in Statesville, N.C., and have spent over a decade traveling the country presenting songs and stories of Southern heritage.

"Soldiers in Gray" is a vision of the men who fought for their land, their freedom and their homes with original songs and stories based on letters and memoirs of the period before, during, and after the War Between the States. The central character, a Confederate "everyman," gives his first-person perspective on that historic conflict through stories similar to those handed down through generations of Southern families.

Clardy will be joined in this special event by Lanise Killingsworth, who will be performing "Watch Over Them," a song which tells the story of the faith that sustained the soldiers and their families as they faced the hardships and separations of wartime.

Limestone College Professor of Music Dr. David B. Thompson will open each performance with selections from his CD, "Confederates at the Keyboard: Southern Piano Music During the Civil War Era." The CD will be available for purchase at the performance with proceeds going toward the restoration fund.

Outside tours of Winnie Davis Hall will be given at 6 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
