Man charged with selling crack to undercover agent

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the arrest of a 36-year-old Gaffney man who allegedly sold crack cocaine to an undercover operative on three occasions last week.

According to incident reports, an undercover operative made three separate purchases of suspected crack cocaine from Michael Lee Davidson, of Michigan Avenue, inside a 4th Street home last Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoon.

During each of the drug buys, the undercover operative purchased a white rocklike substance from Davidson, each of the rocks weighing less than a gram, police said.

Davidson was arrested early Friday and booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center.

He faces several drug charges, including possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine within 1/2 mile proximity of a school.

A man who left his fuelstarved moped in an East Frederick Street parking lot early Friday discovered it stolen after he returned with some gas.

According to a report at the Gaffney Police Department, the Edward Road man's moped ran out of gas at about 12:30 a.m. The man left the moped in the parking lot of McDonald's on East Frederick Street and discovered the theft upon his return about 30 minutes later. The Urbanbrand 50 cc moped is red and silver in color. It is valued at about $1,200.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported two thieves were chased away from a Gold Mine Road home early Friday when they were caught trying to steal the home's underpinning.

According to an incident report, the female owner of the home heard a noise at about 12:20 a.m. and her boyfriend went outside to find two men in dark clothing trying to remove the underpinning. The man gave chase after the thieves, who fled into a wooded area and jumped into a red truck that had a chrome brush guard.

The Gaffney Police Department filed two arrest warrants against a 21-year-old woman who allegedly stole a man's credit card number and used it for $4,888 in online purchases.

Police charged Jameka LaTwan Phillips, of Monroe Street, with financial transaction card fraud and financial card theft. Police said the theft of a Davidson, N.C., man's credit card number occurred Feb. 27 while he was shopping in the Totes store at Prime Outlets - Gaffney. A previous incident report showed a credit card company investigator traced unauthorized purchases with the card number back to the Gaffney woman.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the burglary of a Hickory Holly Road home in Blacksburg.

Sometime between April 20 and April 24, someone entered the home and ransacked every room. The home owner, who discovered her front door open when she returned April 24, told police the only thing that appeared missing was the prescription medication Xanax.

A Rogers Street resident's vehicles sustained about $700 in damage when someone struck them with rocks.

According to Gaffney police, someone threw rocks at a 2006 Buick and 2007 Dodge truck parked in the 200 block of Rogers Street sometime between 11 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. Thursday. The Buick sustained damage to its driver's side door and back fender, while the truck sustained damage to a trunk lid.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported an attempted burglary on Rock Cut Road.

Sometime between April 17 and April 24, an unknown person or persons tried to break into the basement door of a home on the 500 block of the road. The burglar(s) were unable to make entry into the interior of the residence, but did cause damage to the basement door as well as a telephone wire box at the rear of the home. Damage is estimated at $200.

Copper thieves targeted a Porter Street home recently.

According to a report from Gaffney police, an unknown person went under the home in the 100 block of Porter Street and removed all of the copper pipe. Theft losses are estimated at $700.

A vehicle parked on Claremont Street sustained an estimated $900 in damage sometime between Wednesday evening and Thursday evening.

According to a report from Gaffney police, an unknown person used some type of tool while attempting to pry off the windshield of a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe. Police said someone also attempted to pry open the passenger side door.

The driver of a burgundy sports utility vehicle fled from a Hyatt Street gas station Thursday morning without paying for fuel.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, Gas Land USA lost $80.69 due to the gas drive-off, which occurred between 10:30 a.m. and 11:50 a.m.
