Lady Indians shock No. 1 Wren

      The Gaffney High softball team wants you and everybody else to know: "They are in it, to win it." The Lady Indians, who ended their postgame huddle with that phrase in a win last Thursday against Lancaster. backed up their boast with an impressive 2-0 victory over top-seeded and No. 1-ranked Wren on Friday.

      Saints edge Catawba, 10-9 Catawba battled No. 5 Limestone down to the final seconds, but the visiting Saints came away with a 10-9 win in men's lacrosse action on Saturday night at Shuford Stadium. Limestone improves to 12-1.

Gaffney rallies to beat Westside; plays must-win game today

      Tyler Wilson and John Michaels made sure the Gaffney Indians' season didn't end on Saturday in the second round of the district playoffs. Wilson pitched five innings of scoreless relief and Michaels belted the game-deciding 2-run homer in the seventh as the Indians staved off elimination with a come-from-behind 6-4 victory at Westside.

      The Blacksburg High baseball team won't be taking that next step this season. After playing for the district championship a year ago, the Wildcats made a quick exit this year, losing 10-9 to Ninety-Six in an elimination game on Saturday.

GHS boys'track team places third at Region II-4A meet

      Gaffney High boys track coach James Davis issued a goodhearted warning to his Region II-4A rivals when he said last week he expected his team to have a strong showing at the region meet. His prediction came true as the Indians finished second in six events and qualified for this Saturday's state qualifier in 12 events.
