Man injured in Monday wreck

EMS personnel immobilize accident victim Robert Blackwood. EMS personnel immobilize accident victim Robert Blackwood. A rear-end collision on South Granard Street sent one man to the hospital and severely damaged two vehicles Monday afternoon.

According to an accident report at the Gaffney Police Department, a 2008 Chevrolet truck driven by Edward Burris, 37, of Coach Hill Drive, was stopped in traffic on South Granard near the Rutledge Street intersection when he was rearended by a 1988 Honda driven by Robert Blackwood, 30, of Pacolet Highway.

Blackwood was immobilized at the scene by paramedics and transported to Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

Burris' truck was twisted out of shape and police estimated it sustained $7,000 in damage. Blackwood's Honda sustained substantial front-end damage which police estimated at $2,000. Both vehicles had to be towed.
