Scholarships offered by volunteers

Volunteers at Upstate Carolina Medical Center are offering three $1,000 scholarships to local students for the 2008 school term. Students are required to submit a 500-word essay describing their life and career goals. Students must also include two letters of recommendation, documentation of financial need, a copy of their most recent school transcripts and a completed scholarship application, which is available at the hospital's information desk. The deadline to apply for these scholarships is May 15. Funds for the scholarships were made available through items sold at the hospital's gift shop and by selling candy and flowers.
