14 groups want A-Tax funds
Fourteen organizations will ask the city's Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee to fill their wallets with some much-needed funds.
The committee is responsible for recommending how Gaffney City Council should dole out the $29,000 in A-tax monies the city can disperse this year. A-tax monies are a 2 percent surcharge on hotel stays.
Council must approve the recommendations.
The committee is expected to hear from representatives from each of the 14 organizations during a 3 p.m. meeting today. The requests total more than $79,000.
State guidelines require the organizations spend the money on tourism-related events or items.
