ROOFTOP FIRE - A discarded cigarette was the likely cause of a small fire that broke out early Thursday evening on the rooftop of a Cherokee Avenue building that's being razed, according to Gaffney Fire Chief Nathan Ellis. The small fire at 1113 Cherokee Avenue was quickly extinguished by firefighters from the city's Station 10 headquarters and Station 15. The building being demolished is owned by J&M Doors and Glass, according to a demolition permit on the building. More ...

Blacksburg begins talks with York County utility about gas company sale

Woman stabbed during domestic dispute
The Gaffney Police Department is investigating an April 10 incident in which a 19-year-old woman was stabbed in the hip with scissors during a domestic dispute. According to a police report, the woman, who is 16 weeks pregnant, had been in an argument with a 20-yearold man when she was stabbed. The woman told police the man also kicked her in the stomach. Shindig will feature classic country music
Classic country and swing will be heard Friday, May 16 as "Kelley & The Cowboys" perform for the City of Gaffney's third offering of the Shindig at the Cabin Concert Series. SCDOT employees pick up three tons of litter
COLUMBIA - Carolina Spring Clean Week was held April 14-18. During the week, 1,907 South Carolina Department of Transportation maintenance employees removed 434,368 pounds of litter from 2,903 miles of highways.
